A waste of time or worth the time?
A problem might seem like more trouble than its worth but there is value in one coming a problem, no matter now small it is. In fighting for something we find ourselves.
Last week I tried to take an English lesson online, which I usually do face-to-face. At first, the connection was fine, but when we started the main topic, the screen froze. I activated the tethering on my phone, but I couldn’t even use the chatbox, only talk, but we managed to complete the newsletter.
I decided to take this chance to review my internet environment.
The router is up to date. However, the modem was from 2007 when we moved in. I tried unplugging it to rebootit , and updatingit via the phone line, but with no improvement, I finally asked for a replacement modem.
Two days later, a slender man with a semi-long, curly hairstyle came to my house. Is this what a typical IT guy looks like nowadays? He reviewed the router rather than the modem and eventually decided to replace it with a modem made in 2015. He also gave me the advice to apply for an IP6v connection from my provider, which might improve the speed.
In seconds, I completed the application for IP6v. However, it’s been three days since I’ve wrestled with the settings. Now that I’m a morning person, I can spend my time on less important things. Do I wish I’d never heard of IPv6? I don’t think so.
To keep focusing, I cut down on my cooking time and ordered kama-meshi and sushi. Oh! It was time for a routine gym session. I haven’t solved the problem yet, It has definitely increased my knowledge of the internet.
Oh, what am I doing? But it reminded me of the feeling of enthusiasm to work towards a goal. I’m still up to my neck in IPv6 research, but I know I need this time in my life. A waste of time is sometimes worth the time.
