AI and the Mind: An Invitation to the Future of Life Coaching
I’m teaching ChatGPT to be my protege. Eventually, all proteges overtake their masters. I’m Socrates and he’s Plato.
Times change and technology evolves. However, the issues of the human heart remain eternal. Amidst this, I have begun to explore new paths rather than clinging to old methods. Today, I’d like to discuss the groundbreaking collaboration born from 18 years of experience in life coaching and cutting-edge AI technology.
The moment I first spoke with ChatGPT, I felt a sense of excitement, as if I had found a new friend capable of deep conversation. Its precise answers and deep insights were exactly what I had been seeking. When we discussed the topic of ‘Human Leisure Time Enabled by AI,’ I was amazed by its potential. I was surprised at myself for articulating my thoughts so openly. It made me wonder if, despite having many ideas, I might not be sharing them with people as much as I could be.
As I became more accustomed to using ChatGPT, I found that I could dramatically save time in various aspects compared to before, allowing me the luxury of accomplishing more work.
I manage multiple blogs every day. Specifically, I have an online community blog that is subscription-based, where I constantly pose questions and provide new information. A lot of participants leave comments on these articles, which used to take up a considerable amount of time for me to write feedback for. I could write longer feedback, but if I were to write words of approval for every comment, I would run out of time. That’s why I have been summarizing my insightful feedback into single lines. While this approach was well-received, I had been contemplating for five years if there could be a better way to do this.
Three months into using ChatGPT 4, I had become quite accustomed to crafting effective prompts for the AI. At that point, I introduced a new format where ChatGPT would generate feedback based on the comments from participants. It was precisely the kind of meticulous feedback I had wanted for each comment. For ChatGPT, generating this was as fast as light! As a result, participants were able to gain extremely deep insights, which led to an even greater number of comments!
There’s a secret behind the increased engagement from the participants. It’s not just about having AI generate articles and feedback. I am the one behind the scenes, steering ChatGPT.
While ChatGPT is responsible for generating blog articles and effective questions that yield daily insights within the community, it’s me who knows the faces of the participants. Keeping in mind whether the questions would be easy for them to answer or not, I collaborate with ChatGPT to produce the best articles.
As for feedback on comments, simply outsourcing it to ChatGPT with a ‘Please give feedback’ doesn’t necessarily mean the feedback will be empathetic. This is another area where human intervention, with all its emotional nuances, is essential. I adjust the feedback according to each participant's dominant senses and tones.
For example, by changing the prompt between a sensory-focused ChatGPT and a theoretical ChatGPT, the feedback for the same comment can have different ‘temperatures’ and ‘colors
Additionally, as an entertainment element to create an environment where participants can enjoy self-exploration, I sometimes assign roles to ChatGPT — like Comical ChatGPT, Great Person ChatGPT, or Gal-Style ChatGPT — to generate feedback. Amidst the deluge of comments and feedback, this is a creative way to make reading others’ feedback enjoyable as well. Being able to do this instantaneously is a feat only possible with AI.
In this way, I’ve been able to make group sessions possible, even if they are text-based. (By the way, in the online community, there are also 20-minute short sessions handled by humans.) Collaborating with ChatGPT allows for greater societal impact by making coaching accessible to a larger number of people.
Additionally, within traditional 1-on-1 coaching sessions, I am teaching clients how to use ChatGPT. By solving what can be solved through ChatGPT and then involving a human life coach, we can potentially leap even further ahead.
After deeply engaging with people for 18 years, what I can say is that the journey of exploring one’s mind is never a solitary voyage. And now, with the aid of AI, I’ve found a way to share that journey with even more people. This is just the beginning. Through this new form of coaching, I aim to help even more individuals draw the maps of their hearts and gain the power to shape their futures.
