Reviving your past hits
You are in the future from the perspective of things you did in your past. Some of those things want to travel through time to where you are now. What would you select for this special journey?
Last week, I received a text message from an unknown person. The message read, “Is this Hitomi’s cell phone?” I wondered how the person knew my phone number. So without revealing my identity, I first replied, “Who is this?” and then I found out the person’s name. He was about 10 years younger than me and had attended my seminar when I had just started my own business. Back then, he had become a friend of mine, and a friend to of my friends, but I haven’t seen him in 16 years. After receiving the text message, I was scheduled to leave home for a yoga class, so we decided to meet about 10 minutes before the yoga class.
Even though many years had passed, my body shape and hairstyle had hardly changed, so I thought he would recognize me. The corridor leading outside felt like Doraemon’s time machine.
We recognized each other immediately. He used to be a quirky guy, I thought, but he was a more upgraded version of himself. He was wearing different colored contacts on his right and left eyes, a gradation of gray, pink, and green hair color with a ribbon hair clip, an argyle sweater, and a blue bow tie, On the other hand, my frank attitude seemed to have not changed at all for him.
He: “How are our friends doing?”
Me: “Well, I haven’t seen them in a while. We had a falling out after a fight.”
He: “What?! If I intervene, can’t you make up?”
Me: “I doubt it. But I heard through the grapevine that H-san got married.”
He: “That’s good to hear!”
He is coming back to Tokyo and I will see him again.
The only people I had connected with since my early days of independence were my hairdresser mentors, and many of the ribbons that once bound us together have been severed. So, when an event like this occurred, prompting me to re-tie those ribbons, I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of message the universe was trying to send me.
“Ribbon, ribbon, Reborn.” That’s right, it’s the time to revive something.
Since starting my own business, I have experienced a variety of businesses, but about 10 years ago, I decided to put a period on consulting, giving lectures, holding seminars, and selling DVDs to determine what I should be doing. As a result, I have more time and more leisure, I have spent the last 10 years bonding with myself and the people I engage with, creating a lot of slashes. As a result of these activities, I have become more confident in myself as a human being. Then why not revive “speaking engagements” now?
Even though no one had asked for it, I created a “Speaking Requests” page on my website. To receive speaking requests, potential clients would need something to consider. I decided to re-release the DVD on active listening that I had recorded earlier, converting it to an MP4 file. The content is timeless, so it remains relevant even as times change, and it was the best output I could produce at the time. As soon as I created the sales page on my website, someone appeared, purchasing it with a comment saying, “I also want to contribute to world peace.”
Like Elton John, who has been singing “Your Song” for a long time, I have been on my road for a long time, so I would like to create my own “Your Song” and continue to sing it around the world.
